Amitabh Bachchan Opens Up About Multitasking in Early Career
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has opened up about his early career, recalling a time when he worked on 10 to 15 films simultaneously. The veteran actor, who has been in the film industry for over five decades, shared his experiences on his personal blog on Friday, attaching pictures from the sets.
Bachchan, who made his acting debut in 1969 with 'Saat Hindustani', said that the concept of 'prep' or preparation was an unknown entity for his generation. He noted that modern actors put in significant effort to prepare for their roles, which he admires.
Bachchan's Take on Preparation
"The prep was a word or an explanation unknown to my generation and beyond. Now it is a common vocabulary, where one prepares for the work to be undertaken. For me, it was an unknown entity. I see now the amount of labour and pain creative artists put in to get into the character, in looks and style and comprehensive character analysis," Bachchan wrote.
He added, "A most valid and thoughtful act, and my admiration to those that are able to give this aspect the more than required serious consideration and be in preparation for the work undertaken. Good and impressive. But in the good old days when we all worked in 10 to 15 films at the same time - many two or three the same day - it would have been impossible to prep for one and un-prep for the other on the same day."
How Films Were Made in the Past
The actor explained that in the past, it was the directors or assistants who would explain the scenes when the actors arrived at the shooting location. This approach allowed actors to work on multiple projects simultaneously without the need for extensive preparation.
Bachchan has starred in over 200 films, including iconic movies like 'Sholay', 'Zanjeer', and 'Don'. His career spans more than five decades, and he continues to be active in the industry.
Upcoming Projects
The actor will next be seen in the sequel to 'Kalki 2898 AD' and 'Section 84', where he will share screen space with Diana Penty and Nimrat Kaur. These projects are highly anticipated by his fans.
