Significance of Eid Al-Adha
Muslims celebrate Eid Al-Adha, also known as Eid-ul-Zuha or Bakra-Eid, as the second most significant festival in the Islamic calendar. This auspicious day falls on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the twelfth and final month of the Hijri calendar. The festival commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God, and it is marked by acts of worship, charity, and feasting with family and friends.
Community Spirit in Dharwad
The gathering at Idgah Maidan reflected the strong community bonds among Muslims in Dharwad. After the prayers, devotees embraced each other and exchanged greetings, spreading the message of peace and unity. Many also engaged in charitable activities, distributing food and gifts to the less fortunate, embodying the spirit of sacrifice and generosity that defines Bakrid.
The local administration had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the prayers, including traffic management and security measures. The event concluded without any untoward incidents, allowing the community to celebrate the festival with joy and devotion.
