Director Buchi Babu Sana Breaks Down at Grand Peddi Event in Vijayawada
Just days before the release of his highly anticipated film 'Peddi,' director Buchi Babu Sana became emotional while addressing the audience at a grand event in Vijayawada. The filmmaker, who earned widespread acclaim for his debut 'Uppena,' opened up about the years of dedication that went into his second project. He admitted feeling nervous on stage and expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his journey. Why Peddi Took Five Years to Complete
Reflecting on his career after 'Uppena,' Buchi Babu Sana shared, as reported by Asianet, "My first film released five years ago. It became a blockbuster, earned profits for the producers, and even won a National Award. Many people kept asking me what I was doing all these years. The answer is simple — I was working on 'Peddi.'"
He also spoke about his emotional connection with Vijayawada. "I wrote the story of 'Uppena' while riding a bicycle near Nagarjuna University. I was also in Vijayawada when I received the news that I was going to become a father. This city will always be special to me," he said. The director added that those memories made the 'Peddi' event even more meaningful for him.
Ram Charan's Trust Became a Turning Point
Buchi Babu reserved special praise for Ram Charan and his mentor Sukumar. "After 'Uppena,' I was worried about my next project. Sukumar sir introduced me to Charan sir and gave me that opportunity. When I narrated the story, Charan sir did not suggest a single correction. He trusted me completely," he said.
The director explained that 'Peddi' is not just a commercial entertainer. "It is an emotional story about a person who keeps rising after every fall. It is about identity, respect, and determination. 'Peddi' never gives up, no matter how many challenges come his way," he said. Buchi Babu revealed that he has watched the film dozens of times and still gets emotional during the final portions.

The filmmaker also expressed gratitude to producer Venkata Satish Kilaru for backing the project on a grand scale. He revealed that while 'Uppena' was made on a modest budget, 'Peddi' has been mounted on a much larger scale with complete creative freedom. He thanked Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, A.R. Rahman, and the entire team for supporting his vision.
