A joyous wedding celebration in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district turned into a scene of horror when a coffee machine exploded, killing a 15-year-old boy who was the bride's cousin. The incident occurred late Sunday evening at Bahuta village, where wedding rituals for Kamlesh Kumar's daughter were in full swing.
Details of the Incident
The deceased, a resident of Patti, was sitting just a short distance from the coffee machine when it suddenly burst. Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion, followed by chaos as guests rushed to see what had happened. The minor boy was found critically injured, with severe burns covering most of his body. The blast also damaged a portion of the marriage pandal.
Medical Response and Injuries
Family members immediately rushed the boy to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared that he had suffered 80 percent burn injuries, to which he succumbed during treatment. The victim was a Class VIII student and the youngest of three siblings.
Police Involvement and Family Decision
Patti police stated that they were not initially informed about the incident by the family. Later, villagers alerted the authorities, but the family declined to have a postmortem conducted. They also refused to file a formal complaint and proceeded with the cremation of the body on Monday.
Wedding Ceremony Continued
Despite the tragedy, the wedding ceremony was solemnized on Sunday night as originally scheduled, casting a shadow of shock and grief over what should have been a happy occasion.
