Drishyam 3: Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph Film Releases May 21

Drishyam 3, one of the most awaited Malayalam films, is set to reunite superstar Mohanlal with director Jeethu Joseph. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on May 21, and expectations are running high among audiences.

Remakes and Unforgettable Moments

The original Drishyam was remade in several Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Ajay Devgn led the Hindi version, Kamal Haasan headlined the Tamil adaptation, and Venkatesh played the lead in Telugu. Each version brought its own interpretation, but certain moments from the original remained unmatched for many viewers.

Esther Anil on Iconic Scene

Recent comments by Esther Anil, who plays a key role in Drishyam 3, have gone viral. In an interview with Ginger Media, she spoke about a memorable police station scene from the first film. She revealed that recreating that moment was challenging in the Telugu remake.

Explaining the moment, Esther said, “In the interrogation scene, there is a moment where Sahadevan comes and kicks him. His children and wife are standing there, distressed. After being kicked, he looks at them and gives a slight smile, as if to say everything is okay. It was heartbreaking, a very emotional shot. It’s just a single shot, and there’s not much happening within it.”

She further said, “The reason I remember it so clearly is because we recreated the same scene in Telugu. It was directed by Sripriya garu. They explained the shot to Venky uncle — that he gets hit, then turns and smiles. At that moment, Venky uncle said, ‘Amma, I can’t do that. Only Mohanlal can pull that off.’”

The teaser of the film was released today, building further anticipation. The film itself is set for a theatrical release on May 21. Apart from Mohanlal, the cast includes Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sarath, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Irshad, and Ganesh Kumar in key roles.

A Hindi version of the film is also planned, scheduled for release on October 2, 2026. Meanwhile, the Malayalam original's teaser was unveiled on the last day, creating a buzz among fans.
