Hollywood actor John Krasinski has heaped praise on Indian cinema while discussing Dhurandhar, the blockbuster spy franchise starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar. During an interview with NDTV for his upcoming film Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War, Krasinski reacted to comparisons between his CIA agent Jack Ryan and Dhurandhar's spy protagonist Hamza Ali Mazari, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi.
Krasinski's Admiration for Indian Cinema
While admitting he has not yet watched Dhurandhar, John Krasinski spoke highly about Indian filmmaking and revealed that filmmakers in Hollywood are constantly impressed by cinema coming from India. "I haven't seen the film. But as far as Indian films at large, some of the most cutting-edge moviemaking that we have. I know a lot of my filmmaking friends who are out there trying to direct movies are constantly and consistently blown away by films coming out from over there," Krasinski said.
The actor-filmmaker further added that he would love to watch the Ranveer Singh-starrer if he gets the opportunity. "Of course. I love watching anything. It's always inspiring to see what everybody else is doing," he shared.
Dhurandhar Franchise: A Blockbuster Success
The Dhurandhar franchise has emerged as one of Indian cinema's biggest success stories. The first instalment, released in December 2025, reportedly earned around Rs 1,350 crore worldwide, while the sequel Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge went on to surpass those numbers with a global gross crossing Rs 1,833 crore. The films feature Ranveer Singh in the role of Hamza Ali Mazari/Jaskirat Singh Rangi, an undercover spy navigating the dangerous world of intelligence and the Karachi underworld.
The cast also includes Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, Manav Gohil, and Gaurav Gera.
Dhurandhar 2 Heading for OTT Release
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is now gearing up for its digital release. The uncensored "Raw & Undekha" cut of the film, with a runtime of nearly four hours, premiered internationally on Netflix on May 15, 2026. The Indian streaming release is scheduled on JioHotstar on June 5, with a special premiere event planned for June 4.
This praise from a major Hollywood star underscores the growing global recognition of Indian cinema. Krasinski's comments highlight how Indian filmmakers are pushing boundaries and earning respect internationally. The Dhurandhar franchise, with its massive box office numbers and star-studded cast, exemplifies this trend.
