Karthi has officially commenced work on his latest Telugu film, marking a significant milestone in his career. The project was launched with a grand pooja ceremony held in Hyderabad on the concluding day of last month. This film is particularly important for Karthi, as he enjoys a substantial fan base in the Telugu-speaking states, strengthening his foothold in Tollywood.
Kalyan Shankar to Direct the Film
According to reports from Money Control, the upcoming entertainer is directed by Kalyan Shankar, who gained widespread recognition after the success of 'MAD' and 'MAD Square'. The director's unique style of comedy is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the film.
Although the makers have not officially revealed the title yet, sources indicate that the movie is a complete comedy entertainer. The story is said to feature fresh characters, humorous situations, and fun-filled moments designed specifically for family audiences. Regular shooting for the project is expected to commence very soon, with the team finalizing the cast and crew.
Meenakshi Chaudhary Plays Female Lead
Actress Meenakshi Chaudhary has been selected as the female lead opposite Karthi. Her inclusion adds to the film's appeal, as she has garnered a strong following in Telugu cinema. Karthi remains one of the few Tamil actors who has consistently worked towards strengthening his presence in Tollywood, and his popularity in the Telugu-speaking states has grown steadily over the years.
With films like 'Yuganiki Okkadu' (the Telugu dubbed version of 'Aayirathil Oruvan'), 'Awara', and 'Khaidi', the actor has established a good market in Telugu cinema. He also acted in the straight Telugu film 'Oopiri' ('Thozha') alongside Nagarjuna, which was well-received by audiences.
Karthi Earlier Spoke About Telugu Debut
Back in 2011, Karthi had hinted at the possibility of acting in a Telugu film during an interaction reported by TOI City. He said, "Naan Mahan Alla, directed by Suseenthiran. I heard that there was a great response for the theatrical release of the Telugu version and we are expecting a good opening for the film. And guess what, I am now brushing up my Telugu diction. I have been received with open arms in Tollywood and if a great script comes my way, I wouldn't mind taking it up." After several years, the actor is finally set to headline another straight Telugu project. Karthi was last seen in 'Vaa Vaathiyaar'. This new venture is eagerly awaited by his fans across the region.
