Krishi Thapanda Issues Statement After Tragic Incident
Actress Krishi Thapanda has broken her silence following the death of her friend at her Bengaluru residence on June 30, 2026. In a statement released through her legal team, Thapanda expressed profound shock and grief over the incident, which has sparked widespread media attention and a police investigation.
The deceased, identified as 28-year-old software engineer Ananya Rao, was found unconscious in Thapanda's apartment in the upscale Koramangala neighborhood. Despite immediate medical attention, Rao was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. Preliminary reports suggest the cause of death may be related to an allergic reaction, though authorities are awaiting post-mortem results.
Police Investigation Underway
Bengaluru Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are questioning Thapanda and other witnesses. Senior Inspector Ramesh Kumar stated, "We are examining all angles, including the possibility of accidental poisoning. The actress has been cooperative, and we have seized her phone and other electronic devices for forensic analysis."
Thapanda, known for her roles in Kannada and Telugu films, has not been named as a suspect. Her lawyer, Adv. Priya Sharma, emphasized, "Krishi is devastated by the loss of her close friend. She is fully cooperating with the investigation and has provided a detailed account of the events leading up to the tragedy."
Friends and Family Mourn
Friends of Ananya Rao have gathered at her family home in Mysuru, where her parents are in a state of shock. A childhood friend, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, "Ananya was a vibrant person with no known health issues. We are all struggling to understand what happened."
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local film industry, with several actors and directors expressing condolences. Thapanda's recent film, 'Nakshatra', had been performing well at the box office, and her sudden absence from public events had raised questions.
Thapanda Asks for Privacy
In her statement, Thapanda requested privacy as she mourns her friend. "I am heartbroken and request the media and public to respect my privacy and that of Ananya's family during this difficult time. I trust the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation," she said.
The actress has also canceled all professional commitments for the foreseeable future. Her upcoming projects, including a pan-India film directed by Arjun Reddy fame Sandeep Vanga, have been put on hold.
