The longest-running serial on Malayalam television, Mounaragam, has finally gone off air after completing an impressive run of 1,700 episodes. The show, which aired for over seven years, captivated audiences with its compelling storyline and memorable characters.
Naleef Gea's Emotional Farewell
Actor Naleef Gea, who played the lead role of Kiran in the series, took to Instagram to share an emotional note bidding goodbye to the character that transformed his life. In his heartfelt post, Naleef recounted his journey from a struggling outsider to a household name in Kerala.
"Eight years ago, a boy from the southern tip of the country came to Chennai chasing a dream with zero contacts, zero cinema knowledge, and honestly… no clue what he was doing. Just hope. There were rejections, struggles, self-doubt, financial problems… everything. On 13 December 2019, while waiting outside a Tamil serial set hoping for a small side role or a brother character, that boy got a call from an unknown person offering him a HERO role in a Malayalam serial. The boy immediately said NO because he was scared. He didn’t know the language, acting, the camera… literally nothing. But that unknown person believed in him when he couldn’t believe in himself. Today, out of 100 Malayalis, 95 know that boy as an actor. The person who changed that boy’s life is none other than my dear @rameshbabu8668 sir. Sometimes, God doesn’t directly come into our lives to change our destiny… He sends a person who silently becomes the reason behind our success, our strength, and our transformation. The man who saw an actor inside a frightened boy before anyone else did… the man who gave that boy a life, an identity, and a place in people’s hearts… is none other than my dear @rameshbabu8668 sir," Naleef wrote, pouring his heart out about his mentor.
Missing Kiran
In the same note, Naleef expressed his difficulty in letting go of his beloved character. "Since yesterday, my throat has felt choked and my eyes have been filled with tears. Still, I haven’t been able to come out of that emotion. Somewhere inside me, it still feels like the project hasn’t ended… like I’ll be going for the next schedule tomorrow. But the reality is… I can’t live as Kiran anymore," he added.
A Celebrated Show
Mounaragam was one of the most celebrated shows on Malayalam television. Over its seven-year run, the serial won the hearts of viewers with its captivating story and strong performances. Naleef Gea, who began his acting career with this show, became a sensation in Kerala, largely thanks to his striking on-screen chemistry with actress Aishwarya Ramsai. The show's conclusion marks the end of an era for Malayalam TV, leaving fans with fond memories of the characters and the emotional journey they shared.
