A new still from the upcoming film 'Toxic', featuring Yash front and centre, has taken social media by storm. The striking image shows Yash leaning against a vintage car in a neon-lit street setting, surrounded by armed men, hinting at the film's gritty world of gangsters and goons. The film, directed by Geethu Mohandas, has already generated significant buzz even as fans wait for an official new release date.
Release Date Changes
After scrapping the March 19 release to avert a clash with 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', the film later pushed its release to June 4. However, according to the latest buzz, the film will release in English, Kannada and multiple Indian language versions on a later date.
Yash on the Film's Themes
Speaking to Variety, Yash opened up about what drew him to the project and its deeper themes. He revealed that he had been searching for a larger-scale cinematic concept when director Mohandas approached him with the idea for 'Toxic'. Sharing how their creative visions aligned, he explained, "On the face of it, it might look like a gangster film with all the commercial things, but it's so nuanced because there is so much moral ambiguity or raw emotions or dark side of human or certain topics which as an artist or at this point in my life, I would like to explore those kind of things on celluloid."
Ensemble Cast
The actor also highlighted the film's ensemble cast, which includes Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and British theatre actor Darrell D'Silva. According to Yash, the female characters in the film have been written with layered personalities and complex power dynamics. He elaborated, "We have some female characters who are really badass women who have taken responsibility about their lives and who survive in any situations."
Over the weekend, Tara Sutaria, who was at the Cannes Film Festival, teased The Hollywood Reporter India that the film could even feature the leading ladies teaming up for an 'Avengers'-like slow-motion scene.
