Bhubaneswar: Muslims across Odisha braved the scorching summer heat to come together and offer prayers at different mosques and Idgah grounds, marking the festival of Eid-ul-Adha. This festival, which follows the end of the annual Haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, is also known as the 'Feast of Sacrifice.' Devotees sacrificed animals such as goats and sheep to commemorate the occasion.
Elaborate Security and Arrangements
Police made elaborate arrangements in various minority-dominated pockets to ensure that the festival passed off peacefully. In Bhubaneswar, a huge rush of faithfuls was witnessed during mass prayers at mosques in Unit IV, Unit VIII, Unit IX, Niladri Bihar, railway station, Pokhariput, and Mancheswar areas. Some mosque managements, apart from making arrangements to facilitate smooth prayers, were also seen distributing water pouches and cold drinks to help devotees beat the heat.
Community Celebrations
The occasion saw people sharing the festive mood with friends and family members. The spirit of togetherness was evident as communities gathered to pray and celebrate.
Greetings from Dignitaries
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi offered warm greetings and festival wishes to the community. They also wished for the all-round progress and prosperity of the community.
