Ludhiana: Punjabi singer Yashinder Kaur, popularly known as Inder Kaur from Mundian Kalan, was shot dead, according to autopsy results that confirmed two bullet injuries — one piercing her chest and another lodged in her forehead.
Post-Mortem and Last Rites
The post-mortem examination was conducted by a panel of doctors, including forensic experts Dr Karan, Dr Vishal Chopra, and Dr Mandeep. Following the examination, the singer was cremated amid emotional scenes. Family members were inconsolable, and her grandmother reportedly fainted during the last rites.
Discovery of the Body
Inder Kaur’s body was recovered from the Sirhind Canal near Neelon bridge on May 19, six days after she was allegedly kidnapped. Her car was also found submerged approximately one kilometer away from the site.
Police Investigation and Accused
Jamalpur police have registered a murder case against Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukhi Brar, his father Pritam Singh, and associates Ravinder Singh and Karamjit Singh. While Pritam, Ravinder, and Karamjit have been arrested, the main accused Sukhwinder remains absconding.
Police stated that Sukhwinder was in a relationship with the victim despite being married and was allegedly pressuring her to marry him. When she refused, he allegedly shot her dead and dumped the body in the canal.
Investigators added that Sukhwinder traveled from Canada to India via Nepal and is suspected to have fled through the same route after the crime. The probe is ongoing.
