The announcement of their collaboration has sparked massive excitement among fans across South India. The promo video for the tentatively titled 'KHxRK' went viral on social media shortly after its release, drawing an overwhelming response from audiences.
Nelson Dilipkumar directs the mega project
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated Tamil projects in recent times. The stylish and humorous promo instantly captured attention, while fans celebrated the long-awaited reunion of the two legendary stars. Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and renowned cinematographer Rajiv Menon is handling the visuals.
Rajiv Menon on Nelson’s unique narration style
In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Rajiv Menon shared intriguing details about how he came on board the project. He revealed that director Nelson Dilipkumar personally called him and narrated the story. Speaking about the experience, Rajiv Menon said, “Nelson’s way of narrating a story is very entertaining. Without showing much emotion on his face, he explains scenes with a unique sense of humour that makes you laugh.” He further added that after finishing the narration, Nelson asked him, “Sir, will you do the cinematography for this film?” Rajiv Menon immediately agreed and replied, “Definitely! I loved the idea itself.” His comments have only heightened curiosity about the film among fans.
Promo shoot with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan
Rajiv Menon also spoke about the memorable promo shoot featuring the two iconic actors. He revealed that Nelson asked him to join the shoot within a week of their first discussion. At that time, the director only gave him a small hint about the lead actors. Rajiv Menon shared that he had previously worked with Kamal Haasan in advertisements, but this marks his first time handling cinematography for Rajinikanth. He described the entire shoot as “very exciting and full of fun moments.” Rajiv Menon particularly appreciated Nelson’s creative approach and said he liked the idea of presenting both superstars as normal people instead of focusing solely on their larger-than-life image.
Film designed to connect with today’s youth
Rajiv Menon further stated that the film has been designed in a way that will attract the younger generation as well. He mentioned that the response to the promo surprised him personally. “In my long cinema career, I have never received this many appreciation messages for a promo shoot,” he said. According to him, the excitement among fans after the promo release has been overwhelming. Rajiv Menon also revealed that both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are currently busy with their individual commitments. Therefore, the regular shooting of the film is expected to begin around August or September this year.
