The much-anticipated sports action drama 'Peddi', starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, is set to release on June 4, with premiere shows on June 3. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film's trailer was unveiled in a grand event in Mumbai on Monday.
Trailer Highlights
The three-minute trailer introduces viewers to the village where 'Peddi', played by Ram Charan, is revered as a sports idol. When Bollywood star Boman Irani asks youngsters about their favorite player, they unanimously name 'Peddi', regardless of the sport—be it cricket, wrestling, or running. The trailer declares, "For youngsters, he is not a deity in a temple but a deity on the playground."
Ram Charan appears in multiple avatars: a lean, strong cricket player and a muscular wrestler. He delivers a powerful dialogue: "The game itself is in my arrogance." Janhvi Kapoor, playing Achiyyamma, is introduced as a cheerful, warm-hearted, yet strong woman, whom Ram Charan calls a "star that fell from the sky."
The story revolves around Ram Charan's character fighting against oppressive powerful figures through cricket and wrestling. The trailer ends with a thumping line: "You all think I played, but what I actually did was fight, sir." Scenes from Delhi are also shown.
Cast and Crew
Alongside Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, the film features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma, and Ravi Kishan in key roles. Boman Irani makes a special appearance. The music is composed by Oscar-winning AR Rahman. The film will be released in multiple languages.
