Ram Charan's upcoming film 'Peddi' is a sports action drama where the actor portrays a character who plays cricket and engages in wrestling. As the movie prepares for its release next month, cinematographer Ratnavelu has shared insights into the cricketing aspect of Ram Charan's character, revealing that Peddi is not depicted as a flawless cricketer.
Unconventional Cricket Shots Spark Fan Discussion
Since the release of the first glimpse, fans have been talking about the unusual cricket shots featured in the teaser and songs. In one scene, Ram Charan walks down the pitch, taps the bat on the ground, and then smashes the ball for a six. A similar shot appears at the end of the 'Rai Rai Raa Raa' song.
Character's Raw and Energetic Style
According to a 123Telugu report, Ratnavelu explained that Peddi's role was never intended to resemble a trained professional cricketer. 'Peddi is a guy who is not a perfect cricketer. He is a village brat and plays gully cricket. He cannot play textbook cricket shots like cover drives, pull shots, or straight drives,' he said. The cinematographer further elaborated that Peddi plays cricket in his own rough and energetic style. 'So he does all kinds of stunts, puts a beedi in his mouth, and whacks the ball for a six,' Ratnavelu added.
Collaboration with Local Players
The film's team worked closely with local cricket players while designing those scenes. Ratnavelu revealed, 'We interacted with local players to design those shots.' This collaboration helped bring authenticity to the character's unique cricketing style.
