The Malayalam film industry is celebrating the success of 'Drishyam 3', with audiences, critics, and celebrities sharing their reactions. Actress Shaun Romy, who will soon be seen in the musical horror comedy 'Karakkam', expressed her excitement.

Speaking exclusively to ETimes, Shaun said the simultaneous release is a win-win for moviegoers. 'Drishyam 3' offers an intense thriller, while 'Karakkam' delivers comedy, music, and supernatural entertainment. Shaun, who has not yet watched 'Drishyam 3', admitted she is eager to catch it soon due to the overwhelming response. She said, 'Everyone is talking about it so I’m getting FOMO.' She added, 'I’m super excited to see the third part as I have already been a fan of the previous two films.' She believes the release has created a festive atmosphere among Malayalam cinema audiences.

Two Different Flavours for Bakrid

Shaun expressed happiness that 'Karakkam' will release while 'Drishyam 3' continues its successful run. She said, 'I am super excited for the audience because they can watch Drishyam 3 and then enjoy something more light-hearted. These are two completely different kinds of movies. Weekend plans are sorted. I hope people love it. It's two different flavours at once, and everyone is in for a sweet time this Bakrid.'

Shaun Romy Opens Up About Mohanlal

Shaun spoke warmly about Mohanlal, with whom she shared screen space in 'Lucifer' and his son Pranav in 'Hridayam'. She recalled, 'He was quite funny on the sets of Lucifer and is such a positive and charming person. I want to wish him a happy birthday. He’s one of my favourite actors. Watching him act is truly special.'

Karakkam: Horror, Comedy, and Music

Shaun revealed that 'Karakkam' combines supernatural elements with humour and music. She plays Rani Mariya, a ghost who returns to the living world. She said, 'It’s a light-hearted comedy with proper ghost vibes. My character is Rani Mariya. We are all ghosts who are summoned into the real world. We get stuck with two characters played by Sreenath Bhasi and Pravin, and we force them to take us back. It’s a funny journey.' She also loved the retro-inspired music and dance sequences, describing a strong 80s vibe from the Michael Jackson era. Directed by Nipin Narayanan, the film stars Sreenath Bhasi, Femina George, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Sidharth Bharathan, Bijukuttan, Manikandan R. Achari, and Midhutty. Music is by Sam C. S.

Drishyam 3 Box Office Update

Directed by Jeethu Joseph, 'Drishyam 3' continues its strong worldwide run despite a second-day drop. According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 11.05 crore net in India on Day 2, down 30.3% from Rs 15.85 crore on Day 1. It was screened across 4,886 shows on Day 2 compared to 5,506 on Day 1, with overall occupancy dropping from 51.3% to 44.5%. The film has accumulated Rs 26.90 crore net in India and Rs 31.18 crore gross. Overseas, it earned Rs 20 crore on Day 2, taking the overseas total to Rs 45 crore. Worldwide gross has reached Rs 76.18 crore. Kerala leads with the Malayalam version contributing Rs 9.85 crore net on Day 2 and 61% occupancy, with night shows at 68.33%. The film features Mohanlal, Meena, Esther Anil, Ansiba Hassan, Siddique, and others.
