Hyderabad: Two men have been arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman in a room in Secunderabad after promising her a role in movies. The survivor, who lives on a footpath with her friend, had worked as an extra in some films. On the evening of May 14, the accused approached the duo and asked the woman to accompany them for a film opportunity.
According to police, the woman went with them to their room in Secunderabad, where she was sexually exploited for two days. On May 16, she was sent back via a bike taxi. Her friend noticed injuries on her body and took her to Gandhi Hospital for medical treatment on May 17. During treatment, doctors inquired about the injuries, leading to the woman disclosing the assault.
Based on her complaint, a rape case was registered on May 18, and the victim underwent a medical examination. The Jubilee Hills police launched a manhunt and arrested the accused on Tuesday night. They are currently being interrogated. The incident highlights the vulnerability of homeless women and the misuse of promises of film roles to exploit them.
Authorities urge anyone with information about similar crimes to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
