Altamash Faraz believes that one of the most significant challenges in his acting career has been the conscious decision to avoid following familiar paths in an industry that often rewards tried-and-tested formulas. Currently seen in the television show Mangal Lakshmi, the actor explains that he has deliberately chosen projects that offer something distinct, rather than remaining within a comfort zone.
Choosing Unconventional Scripts
Reflecting on the choices that have shaped his journey, Altamash says, “I think it’s about selecting the kind of scripts and projects you want to do. I feel that most projects in the TV industry share similar storylines.” He emphasizes that stepping away from established formulas is not always easy, as many prefer to stick to proven routes. “So, I try to do something different, and that is one challenge because everyone tries to play it safe. Everyone follows the route that has been successful in the past and wants to get on that bandwagon to remain in safe territory,” he shares.
Trusting Instincts Over Conventional Routes
The actor adds that he has never been comfortable taking the conventional route. “But I’ve never really believed in that. I’ve always followed my instinct, whether it comes to work, life, or decision-making,” he asserts. Altamash also highlights that finding like-minded collaborators remains another hurdle. “Trying to work with people who think differently is difficult because there are very few people who actually think differently and want to take risks,” he explains.
Despite these obstacles, he believes that trusting his instincts has been key to navigating his career. “The only way I’ve overcome them is by following my instinct and figuring out whether something feels right or wrong for me. Most of it has always been right,” he concludes.
