Grey's Anatomy Spinoff Set for 2026-2027 Season

The beloved medical drama 'Grey's Anatomy' is expanding its universe with a new spinoff series, scheduled to premiere during the 2026-2027 broadcast season. The untitled one-hour show is described as an edgy drama centered on a team at a West Texas rural medical center, serving as the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.

Creative Team Behind the Spinoff

'Grey's Anatomy' creator Shonda Rhimes serves as co-creator and executive producer on the new series alongside Meg Marinis, who has been the showrunner of 'Grey's Anatomy' since Season 20 in 2024, as reported by 'Variety'. Ellen Pompeo, star and executive producer of the original series, also executive produces the spinoff, along with longtime Rhimes collaborator Betsy Beers. The spinoff is produced by 20th Television and Shondaland.

Potential Connections to the Original Series

Details about the new series' connection to 'Grey's Anatomy' remain under wraps. It is not yet known whether Pompeo's character Meredith Grey or other familiar faces will make appearances at the Texas medical center.
