In a major development for cinema lovers, Hollywood megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger has seen his career-long wish fulfilled with the premiere of the 2025 remake of his classic film 'The Running Man'. The action legend, now 78, attended the star-studded premiere event in Washington DC alongside director Edgar Wright and leading actor Glen Powell.
The Only Film Schwarzenegger Wanted Redone
Speaking exclusively at the premiere, Schwarzenegger made a significant revelation about his filmography. "The only movie that I always wanted to have redone of my movies was The Running Man," the actor declared. He expressed immense satisfaction with the new version, stating, "So now, this one really upped it and did exactly that. The action was unbelievable and creative."
The original 1987 dystopian thriller, directed by Paul Michael Glaser, was loosely based on a Stephen King novel written under his pseudonym Richard Bachman. Schwarzenegger played the protagonist Ben Richards, a former police captain forced to participate in a deadly televised game show. "Arnold gave us his blessing," Powell told People magazine. "His son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, is a great friend of mine, and I asked Patrick if I could talk to Arnold. I hadn't seen Arnold since we shot Expendables in Bulgaria."
Director Edgar Wright also shared his appreciation for Schwarzenegger's support through an emotional Instagram post featuring a photograph of himself, Powell, and Schwarzenegger holding a fictional $100 bill bearing the veteran actor's face.
