Kerala Minister Announces Major Health Initiative for Kalamassery

Industries Minister P Rajeeve has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Kalamassery into a cataract-free constituency. He made this significant announcement during a news conference held at Pathadippalam on Saturday.

Super-Specialty Medical Camp Details

A comprehensive super-specialty medical camp will take place at the Samra Convention Centre in Kalamassery this Sunday. The camp will operate from 8am to 1pm, offering extensive healthcare services to residents.

Minister Rajeeve emphasized that this initiative aims to eliminate cataract-related vision problems in the constituency. The camp will also include CPR training sessions for attendees.

Comprehensive Healthcare Services Offered

The medical camp will provide a wide range of diagnostic and treatment facilities. Free tests will include ECG, Echo, TMT, and mammograms. Participants can access breast cancer screening, cardiac evaluations, and eye, dental, and hearing check-ups.

Mobile treatment buses from dental colleges will be present at the venue. The camp will offer treatment facilities across multiple medical systems, including general medicine, specialty care, super-specialty services, ayurveda, and homoeopathy.

Extensive Medical Coverage

Services will span over twenty medical departments. These include general medicine, general surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, gynaecology, surgical oncology, and neurology.

More than 250 doctors and over 300 health workers will participate in the camp. They represent thirty-five government and private hospitals across the region.

Free Treatments and Past Success

Attendees will receive free cataract surgeries and spectacles. The camp will also provide medications, specialised tests, and surgeries at no cost for those in need.

Minister Rajeeve highlighted the camp's impressive track record. Over the past four years, this initiative has provided free treatment to 40,000 people. Medical teams performed eye surgeries and distributed spectacles to 2,246 individuals.

The camp has also provided hearing aids to 116 people. Forty-four individuals received knee replacement surgeries, while seven underwent plastic surgeries through this program.

Accessibility and Transportation

To ensure maximum participation, free transportation will be arranged from various areas within the constituency. This service aims to help residents reach the camp venue conveniently.

Minister Rajeeve expressed confidence that this initiative will significantly improve public health in Kalamassery. The comprehensive approach addresses both preventive and curative healthcare needs of the community.
