Kodagu Man Dies in Lightning Strike While Visiting Paddy Field

A tragic incident occurred in Yelwala near Mysuru on Tuesday, where a man from Kodagu lost his life after being struck by lightning while viewing paddy fields. The victim, identified as Hosoklu Roshan Balakrishna, was the son of the late Hosoklu Balakrishna from Heravanad village near Madikeri. Roshan, a former IT employee who had recently resigned from his job, was engaged in agricultural activities alongside a colleague. The duo was involved in introducing and marketing modern agricultural equipment. During the evening hours, while visiting a paddy field in Yelwala, Roshan was accidentally struck by lightning. Another person accompanying him was also injured but managed to escape unharmed. The funeral took place in Heravanad. Roshan is survived by his wife and a young son.

In a separate incident on the same day, a man from Kodagu died of a heart attack while returning from a tribal conference in Delhi. The deceased, Mathari Harsha, 37, was a resident of Chikkathur village under Kudumangalore gram panchayat limits in Kodagu. He suffered a heart attack while traveling back from the conference. Harsha was on a train from Delhi to Bengaluru when he developed chest pain in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Doctors examined him on the spot and confirmed his death. He was the son of Mathari Bhojappa of Doddathur village and is survived by his wife and a daughter. His body was brought to his hometown for cremation.
