Nagpur: The Ajni police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly possessing a significant quantity of MD powder during a raid at his residence. Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted the raid early Monday morning at the home of Aditya Telgote in Savitribai Phule Nagar, Gully No 6, Annabhau Sathe Marg, Ajni.
Recovery of Contraband
During the search of the premises, law enforcement officials recovered 290 grams of MD powder cleverly concealed in a ziplock bag hidden behind plywood pieces on the terrace. Two mobile phones were also seized from the spot. The total value of the seized contraband is estimated to be around Rs 15 lakh.
Motive and Legal Action
Police investigations revealed that Telgote was involved in selling the drug to earn financial gains. A case has been registered under Sections 8(a) and 22(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Ajni police station. The accused has been arrested and is currently in custody. Further probe into the matter is underway to ascertain the source of the drugs and any possible links to larger drug networks.
This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Nagpur police to curb drug trafficking in the region. The seizure of such a substantial quantity of MD powder marks a significant success in the fight against the illegal drug trade.
