Ranchi shop fined Rs 10k for expired food sale

A retail outlet in the Harmu Bypass Road area of Ranchi has been penalised Rs 10,000 for allegedly selling expired food items. The action came after a team from the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) conducted a surprise inspection at the outlet.

Surprise Inspection Uncovers Violations

The civic body's food inspection team carried out a sudden check at Daily Mart and detected several products that had crossed their validity period. The expired items were immediately seized and removed from the shelves to prevent any possibility of sale to consumers.

Routine Food Safety Enforcement

Officials stated that the inspection was part of routine food safety enforcement measures being undertaken across the city. The store management was directed to maintain stricter inventory checks and ensure that all goods on sale meet the prescribed food safety standards. The RMC emphasised that such inspections would continue and strict action would be taken against violators.
