Patna: Marking World Bicycle Day 2026, a special edition of the 'Fit India Sunday on Cycle' initiative was organized in Patna on Sunday, drawing over 1,000 participants from various segments of society. The event, held in collaboration with the Bihar government and other partner organizations, aimed to promote fitness, environmental sustainability, and a healthy lifestyle through cycling.
Participants from All Walks of Life
Cyclists, including athletes, youth volunteers, fitness enthusiasts, government officials, personnel from armed and paramilitary forces, and members of civil society, participated enthusiastically in the rally. The 10-kilometer ride began at Income Tax Golambar, passed through Patna Zoo, and concluded at the same starting point.
Chief Guest Highlights Benefits of Cycling
Patna Sahib MLA Ratnesh Kushwaha attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of integrating cycling into daily routines and urged citizens to dedicate at least one day every week to the activity. 'Cycling not only improves physical fitness but also plays a significant role in protecting the environment,' he said.
Someswar Rao, center in-charge of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Training Centre (STC) in Patna, noted that the 'Sunday on Cycle' initiative is held regularly across different locations to encourage people to stay active. He added that the program motivates individuals of all age groups to adopt healthier habits.
Commitment to Fit India Movement
The event concluded with a renewed commitment among participants and organizers to further promote fitness awareness and eco-friendly practices under the Fit India Movement. The rally served as a reminder of the simple yet effective ways to contribute to personal health and environmental well-being.
