In a significant push to enhance medical services, the Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned a substantial fund of nearly Rs 9.8 crore for the procurement of modern medical equipment across 14 state hospitals. The move aims to directly upgrade the healthcare infrastructure and improve the quality of patient care available to residents.
Strengthening Infrastructure and Accountability
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the portfolio of State Health Minister, announced the approval. He emphasized that this initiative is part of a dual strategy to strengthen the public health system. While essential equipment is being provided to hospitals, the administration is also cracking down on negligence.
"The government is tightening its grip on negligence in patient care, acting against doctors found absent from duty, while simultaneously strengthening hospitals with essential equipment," Pathak stated. He added that the infusion of modern devices will improve patient services and help in reducing the burden on larger district medical facilities.
Major Allocations for Key Hospitals
The funds have been strategically allocated based on the needs of the hospitals. The breakdown of the major allocations is as follows:
- The largest share of Rs 2.7 crore has been sanctioned for the Ram Sagar Mishra Joint Hospital in Saudhamau, Bakshi-ka-Talab. This fund will be used to procure advanced medical machines.
- Balrampur District Women's Hospital is set to receive Rs 1.52 crore for new equipment.
- Rae Bareli District Hospital has been approved Rs 1.56 crore for upgrades.
- Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Joint District Hospital in Etawah will get Rs 38.96 lakh for modern medical devices.
The remaining funds will be distributed among ten other hospitals to ensure a wide-reaching impact.

This financial approval marks a concrete step towards bridging the gap in healthcare accessibility and quality within the state. By equipping these 14 hospitals with contemporary medical technology, the government intends to:
