Hailee Steinfeld is embracing motherhood with candor, gentleness, and a fierce commitment to healing. Just weeks after welcoming her first baby with Josh Allen, the actress shared the emotional and physical changes she has undergone in the early postpartum period. Instead of rushing back into routines, she is learning to relax and care for herself in entirely new ways.
Opening Up About Postpartum Recovery
Steinfeld recently opened up in her Beau Society newsletter, offering fans a rare glimpse into her life as a new mother. Her comments resonated deeply, especially with other women who praised her honesty about postpartum recovery, nutrition, and emotional vulnerability.
She revealed that one of the biggest lessons she has learned came from her doula, who encouraged her to focus on warm, nourishing meals during recovery. "In general, she advised me to stick to warm foods during my postpartum recovery to help digestion and boost nutrient absorption, a philosophy that stems from Ayurveda," Steinfeld shared.
This advice has already shaped her daily routine. The actress revealed that her mother recently made her albondigas soup, which quickly became one of her comfort meals during recovery.
Reading and Reflection
Steinfeld has been reading The First 40 Days by Heng Ou, a book centered on postpartum healing and nutrition for new mothers. "I'm halfway through this book, and every word has resonated. There's a paragraph early on that talks about how even forty days after giving birth, you're still in such a vulnerable state," she wrote. "People understand that about your new baby, but they don't understand that about you, the mom."
She admitted she is still learning to be patient with herself physically and emotionally during this stage of life.
Embracing a New Chapter
While Steinfeld continues adjusting to motherhood, she also spoke about slowly returning to movement and exercise without pressure. "I'm still in this early period and need to remember to be super gentle with myself in every way — physically, mentally, nutritionally, spiritually, all of it," she explained.
She added that she plans to try recipes from the postpartum cookbook soon, including lactation cookies and chocolate mousse.
Family support has reportedly become a major part of her healing process. Steinfeld shared that while she cares for her newborn daughter, her own mother has stepped in to help take care of her as well.
The heartfelt update arrives shortly after Josh Allen publicly praised his wife while discussing life as a new father. Together, the couple appears to be navigating parenthood quietly, choosing intimate family moments over public attention.
For fans, Steinfeld’s honesty about postpartum life offered something refreshing. Instead of presenting a polished celebrity version of motherhood, she chose vulnerability, warmth, and realism.
