Madikeri: Compassion and humanity towards patients reflect the true personality of a doctor, stated Dr Raj Narayan Tiwari, director of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), while speaking at the graduation day celebration of the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).
Compassion in Medical Profession
Dr Tiwari emphasized that the medical profession extends beyond mere treatment; it fundamentally involves compassion. He remarked that patients approach doctors not only for health issues but also based on trust. This trust, he noted, is a cornerstone of the doctor-patient relationship.
Importance of Community Medicine and Research
Highlighting the significance of community medicine in postgraduate studies, Dr Tiwari urged that research in the medical field should be given high priority. He asserted that doctors play a crucial role in India's journey to becoming a developed nation by 2047. The responsibility of maintaining the nation's health, he said, lies with young doctors.
