Madurai: Madurai Meenakshi Super Specialty Hospital launched a Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit on Sunday, providing end-to-end cancer management under one roof.
Inauguration by Tamil Actor Suriya
Tamil actor and philanthropist Suriya inaugurated the facility in the presence of Dr S Gurushankar and heads of various departments. The centre integrates radiation, medical, surgical and paediatric haemato-oncology services along with bone marrow transplantation.
Comprehensive Treatment Options
Treatment options include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and palliative care, supported by specialised clinical teams. The unit is equipped with advanced radiation technologies such as Tomotherapy with ClearRT and Synchrony, and robotic-assisted surgical systems aimed at improving outcomes while minimising side effects.
Patient-Centric Approach
“Our new facility aims to make world-class cancer care accessible across south Tamil Nadu, reducing the need for patients to travel to distant cities. With a patient-centric approach, we offer individualised treatment plans to improve survival and quality of life,” said Dr S Gurushankar.
Advanced Diagnostics and Technology
The centre also features advanced diagnostic services, including PET-CT and specialised imaging for accurate staging, along with LINAC-based radiation therapy, brachytherapy and histopathology services to support diagnosis and treatment.
