Kanpur experienced a spike in temperature on Monday, with the maximum temperature reaching 39.3 degrees Celsius, according to the weather observatory at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology. This marks an increase of about two degrees from Sunday's high of 37.3 degrees Celsius.
High Humidity Intensifies Heat
Despite the modest rise in temperature, high humidity levels made conditions particularly uncomfortable. The heat index soared to nearly 40-42 degrees Celsius, significantly affecting residents. Moderate north-westerly winds, blowing at speeds between 5 and 12.3 km per hour, added to the sultry atmosphere.
