MLA Kulwant Singh Inaugurates Rs 30 Lakh Hi-Tech Waiting Hall at Mohali Hospital
MLA opens modern waiting hall at Mohali hospital

In a significant move to improve patient amenities, local MLA Kulwant Singh on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art waiting hall at a hospital in Mohali. The modern facility, constructed with an investment of approximately Rs 30 lakh, promises a more comfortable and safe environment for visitors, with a special focus on vulnerable groups.

A Boost for Patient Comfort and Care

The newly inaugurated hall is an air-conditioned space designed to alleviate the stress of hospital visits. Developed under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative with support from JLPL’s Dr S S Bhamra and Paramjit Singh, it features several patient-friendly amenities. These include a large LED display screen for information, two separate entry points, and spacious, comfortable seating arrangements. Hospital authorities emphasized that this infrastructure will be especially beneficial for senior citizens, women, and critically ill patients, significantly upgrading their overall hospital experience.

MLA Addresses Infrastructure Delays and Issues

During the inauguration event, MLA Kulwant Singh also addressed queries regarding other pending projects within the hospital premises. When asked about the delay in commencing work on a new ward in the Paediatric Department, Singh provided clarity. He explained that while the ward was inaugurated by a minister in November, the actual work was stalled due to a complication with the electricity connection.

“Since the entire hospital’s power supply had to be temporarily disconnected, the process took time,” stated the MLA. “The issue has now been resolved, and work will start from tomorrow. The ward will be made operational very soon.”

Furthermore, the MLA responded to concerns about frequently closed male washrooms in the hospital building. “I have come to know about this issue just now. I will speak to the SMO and ensure that this problem is also resolved at the earliest,” he assured.

Call for Public Cooperation and Future Vision

Concluding his address, MLA Kulwant Singh made a public appeal for the maintenance of the new and existing facilities. “All these facilities belong to the people. Everyone must take care of them. If they are damaged, it is ultimately the public’s own property that suffers,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of community stewardship.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by key hospital officials, including AIMS Director-Principal Dr Bhavneet Bharti, who acknowledged the critical role of such patient-centric infrastructure in strengthening public healthcare services. Senior medical officer Dr H S Cheema was also present at the event, marking a collective step towards enhancing healthcare delivery in Mohali.
