A Chinese social media influencer has made headlines worldwide after revealing he spent an astonishing amount equivalent to nearly ₹5 crore on cosmetic procedures to create artificial eight-pack abs. The man, known online as Andy Hao Tienan, claims to have invested four million yuan in hyaluronic acid injections to achieve his desired physique.
The Extreme Body Modification Journey
Andy Hao Tienan, who boasts approximately one lakh followers on social media platforms, is primarily known for his beauty and fashion content. According to reports from the South China Morning Post, Hao has undergone extensive cosmetic treatments involving hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally present in human bodies that supports joint movement and skin hydration.
The influencer claims that hyaluronic acid now constitutes nearly 20% of his total body composition. In an ambitious plan that has raised eyebrows in medical communities, Hao aims to complete 10,000 doses of these injections and states he has already finished approximately 40% of this target.
Several months prior to his recent revelations, Hao gained attention for receiving 40 doses of hyaluronic acid injections in his shoulders, collarbones, chest, and stomach area specifically to sculpt his abdominal muscles. Notably, he has not disclosed the detailed medical protocols or safety measures involved in these procedures.
Motivation Behind Unconventional Approach
Hao explained his decision to pursue cosmetic treatments rather than traditional exercise methods, stating that regular workouts failed to provide him with the muscular definition he desired. In a statement that reflects his unconventional philosophy, he challenged critics: "I totally agree that muscles do not grow on cowards. But, you have to understand, I have had so many injections. I am no coward any more. Could you dare to do the same?"
The social media personality has even announced future plans to showcase his unusual achievement. He declared that if his artificial abs remain intact for three years, he will apply for a Guinness World Record for the longest-lasting artificial abs made of hyaluronic acid. As part of his demonstration, Hao promised to live-stream himself cracking walnuts on his manufactured abdominal muscles.
Medical Experts Voice Serious Concerns
Cosmetic surgery specialist Li Jialun has issued strong warnings about the potential dangers of Hao's extreme approach to body modification. The expert explained that injecting 40 doses of hyaluronic acid could potentially crush skin tissue and might even lead to blood vessel necrosis, a serious condition where tissue dies due to insufficient blood supply.
Li further elaborated on several concerning aspects of such procedures. Although the artificial muscles might appear convincing when stationary, their appearance becomes abnormal during movement because natural muscles are dynamic and respond differently to body motions. The expert also cautioned that natural muscle tissue might deteriorate over time as fillers like hyaluronic acid can potentially erode bone structure and apply pressure on surrounding muscle tissue.
"When the filler dissolves, your original muscles may look even weaker. And fourth, displacement is a very likely side effect," Li told South China Morning Post, highlighting the long-term risks associated with such extreme cosmetic procedures.
Despite these warnings, Hao reported in a late October video, approximately five months after his procedure, that he remains satisfied with the results. He claimed the hyaluronic acid had not shifted or clumped together, contrary to predictions from some medical professionals and critics. "It actually looks more natural and better over time. Even the lines between the abs are still distinct, and they have not merged into a single lump," he stated.
