Prableen Kaur Bhomrah's Journey from Concealment to Self-Acceptance in Beauty
In an exclusive and revealing conversation, Prableen Kaur Bhomrah, one of India's most beloved skin-body positive influencers, opened up about her transformative relationship with beauty and skincare. She detailed how her perspective has evolved from a focus on perfection to embracing individuality and authenticity.
From Picture-Perfect to Personal Enhancement
"Initially, my relationship with beauty and skincare, especially as a teenager and in my early 20s, was more about concealing and making my skin look picture-perfect. Over time, that changed dramatically," Bhomrah shared candidly. "I started embracing my scars and texture, and beauty became more about enhancing my existing features rather than hiding them." This shift marked a significant turning point in her approach.
She further explained that earlier in her life, she wasn't very consistent with skincare routines. However, today, she genuinely enjoys the process. "I have realized that prep is what really makes makeup look good, and that shift has completely changed how I view beauty and skincare today," Bhomrah emphasized, highlighting the importance of foundational care over superficial coverage.
Debunking Common Skincare Myths
As the discussion deepened into skincare practices, Bhomrah addressed the prevalence of myths in the industry. "But one major one is trying every home remedy you see and assuming it will work," she cautioned. "Using random face packs, overdoing actives, or applying things like besan, turmeric, tomato, or lemon because our dadis and nanis recommended them can actually be very harsh and acidic for the skin."
She stressed the importance of personalized care, noting that every skin type is unique. "What works for one person may not work for another. It's important to stick to skincare that your skin responds well to, give it time to heal, and treat it gently. Your skin will eventually become your best friend," Bhomrah advised, promoting a gentle and patient approach to skincare.
Redefining Beauty Beyond Appearances
Further elaborating on her personal concept of beauty, Bhomrah mentioned, "For me, it is about being confident in my skin and in my body. It's about feeling like the best version of myself." She described beauty as an internal state, saying, "When I feel comfortable, confident, empowered, and truly good in my body, that's when I feel the most beautiful."
On the topic of beauty trends and filters, Bhomrah offered a balanced perspective. "There will always be trends coming and going, but I pick and choose what works for me. I like to add my own twist to trends instead of blindly following everything," she stated. She emphasized that it's not necessary to do every trend to stay relevant.
"Building your community is what really takes you far in the long run. Trends are great for engagement and can give you a short push, but beyond that, they don't do much. What truly builds your page is the conversations you create, the education, and the information you put out consistently," Bhomrah concluded, underscoring the value of authenticity and meaningful content over fleeting trends.
