Ayodhya Celebrates Ram Navami with Historic Surya Tilak Ceremony
The sacred city of Ayodhya was enveloped in an atmosphere of profound devotion and jubilation on Friday as it celebrated Ram Navami, marking the birth of Lord Ram. The highlight of the festivities was the 'Surya Tilak' ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, where a scientific arrangement directed golden sun rays to illuminate the forehead of Ram Lalla for four minutes precisely at noon.
Massive Devotee Turnout and Spiritual Atmosphere
According to official estimates, approximately 35 lakh devotees flocked to Ayodhya over a two-day period to participate in the celebrations. The temple premises were adorned with vibrant flowers, decorative lights, and colourful garlands, creating a visually stunning backdrop for the rituals.
Since early morning, the air resonated with:
- Vedic chants and devotional songs like 'Bhaye pragat kripala'
- Traditional bhajans and aartis
- Chants hailing Lord Ram
The celebrations included ceremonial bathing of Ram Lalla and offerings of 'chhappan bhog,' followed by the much-anticipated Surya Tilak event.

CM Yogi Adityanath's Spiritual Message
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared an emotional message on social media, describing the Surya Tilak as "a radiant symbol of faith, pride and spirituality." He emphasized that the ceremony "awakens the eternal consciousness of Sanatan culture" and "ignites devotion, strength and self-respect in every heart."
The Chief Minister further stated that "the divine light of this Surya Tilak will guide the resolve of a Developed and self-reliant India" and concluded with "Where there is Ram, there is the path, and there India shines brightly. Jai Shri Ram."
The Ram Navami celebrations in Ayodhya thus represented not only a significant religious event but also a demonstration of India's cultural heritage, scientific advancement, and organizational capabilities in managing large-scale spiritual gatherings.
