Veteran Actor Doddanna Urges Parents to Promote Book Reading Over Mobile Phones
Veteran Kannada actor Doddanna made a heartfelt appeal to parents during a recent literary event. He called on them to encourage their children to gain knowledge through reading books rather than relying on mobile phones. Doddanna stressed that the responsibility of teaching the great Indian epics, Mahabharata and Ramayana, to today's young generation lies squarely with parents.
Preserving Kannada Language and Culture
Doddanna spoke at the inauguration of the 10th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan of Koppa taluk, which was organised in Kogre, Chikkamagaluru. He expressed deep concern about the state of the Kannada language. "Kannada literature is pure," he said. "It has a history spanning thousands of years. It is disheartening that Kannada is drifting away day by day due to the influence of Western languages and culture."
He highlighted the importance of such cultural festivals in preserving the language. According to Doddanna, if these Kannada festivals continue to be held regularly, there is genuine hope for the preservation and promotion of Kannada. He noted that many great poets have contributed significantly to spreading the grandeur of Kannada literature worldwide.
Honoring the Land's Sons
During his speech, Doddanna also paid tribute to key figures in society. He remarked that while the farmer is the first son of the land, the soldier who guards the border, risking his life, is the second son. This statement underscored his respect for those who contribute to the nation's well-being in different ways.
