Hanuman Jayanti Celebrated in Delhi with Communal Harmony and Vigilant Security

New Delhi witnessed a vibrant and peaceful celebration of Hanuman Jayanti on Thursday, marked by a spirit of bonhomie and festive cheer that cut through typical tensions. The city exuded a celebratory yet vigilant atmosphere, with sensitive localities such as Jahangirpuri and Uttam Nagar placed under stringent security measures. Additional paramilitary companies were strategically deployed to ensure the festivities proceeded smoothly and without incident.

Communal Harmony Shines in Jahangirpuri

In a heartening display of communal unity, members of the Muslim community in Jahangirpuri actively participated in the celebrations. They showered rose petals along the procession route, exchanged warm hugs, and offered heartfelt wishes, adding a joyous and inclusive touch to the occasion. Hundreds of devotees joined a nearly 2-kilometer-long procession that commenced after 12 PM in Jahangirpuri, with police granting permission for three separate processions in the area, all closely supervised.

People from diverse backgrounds enthusiastically participated, chanting devotional hymns with fervor. One of the processions was organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Surendra Kumar Gupta, a VHP member, emphasized that the day symbolizes not only faith and devotion but also victory and self-respect. He recalled that after violence marred the Jahangirpuri procession three years ago, administrative restrictions were imposed. However, this year, following positive dialogue, permission was granted for a route spanning 2.5 to 3 kilometers, which he described as "a collective victory for the community."

Extensive Security Measures Ensure Peace

Under the overall supervision of Ravindra Yadav, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), extensive security arrangements were implemented. Thousands of police personnel were deployed across the district, supplemented by 14 companies of external forces stationed in key areas. Officers were positioned at regular intervals along the procession routes, while drones, Vajra vehicles, and RAF units closely monitored activities to prevent any untoward incidents.

DCP (Northwest) Aakansha Yadav confirmed that all processions concluded safely. Police demonstrated vigilance by stopping a group of men who attempted to take out a small procession without proper authorization, underscoring the commitment to maintaining order.

Festive Atmosphere Across Delhi

A similar celebratory mood was observed in Uttam Nagar and Dwarka, where devotees distributed sweets and children dressed as Indian gods and goddesses added a colorful and festive charm to the events. In a poignant moment, one vehicle in the procession carried a photograph of 26-year-old Tarun Butolia, who was allegedly lynched during Holi, with participants paying tribute to his memory.

The celebrations highlighted a blend of religious fervor and communal harmony, supported by robust security protocols, making Hanuman Jayanti a memorable and peaceful occasion in the capital.
