Lucknow's Isabella Thoburn College beautifully ushered in the festive spirit this past Saturday with a special Candlelight Service and Cantata. The event, held in the college auditorium, was centered around the heartwarming theme of 'The Saviour Is Born'. It offered a moving blend of music and spiritual reflection, creating a captivating atmosphere for all who attended.

A Campus Transformed into a Festive Wonderland

The college grounds were completely transformed for the occasion, resembling a magical winter wonderland. The campus was adorned with traditional festive decorations, including jingle bells, Christmas trees, and twinkling lights. Vibrant stars and festive wreaths added to the cheerful and celebratory ambiance, perfectly setting the stage for the evening's program.

A Symphony of Carols and Spiritual Reflection

The programme began with a Call to Worship led by the officiating principal, Dr (Major) Neerja Masih. The highlight of the evening was the performance by the college choir, which included both students and faculty members. They presented a series of carols and hymns narrating the Nativity story, skillfully weaving together songs and readings from the Holy Bible.

The choir's repertoire was a delightful mix of English and Hindi numbers, ensuring a culturally rich experience. The performances included timeless classics like 'O Little Town of Bethlehem', 'Angels We Have Heard on High', and 'Joy to the World', which the entire congregation joined in singing. Hindi songs such as 'Aasman se Khushkhabri' and 'Ye Kaisa Sama Chha Raha Hai' added a unique local flavor to the celebration.

A Message of Peace and Festive Fellowship

The spiritually enriching evening drew to a close with a closing prayer and benediction delivered by Bishop Rev Dr Gerald John Mathias. He shared a poignant message focusing on global peace and harmony, resonating deeply with the festive theme. College president E S Charles expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making the event a success.

The serene notes of 'Silent Night' encapsulated the sacredness of the night commemorating Jesus's birth. Following the service, attendees enjoyed a time of fellowship over Christmas cake and coffee, sharing in the joy and warmth of the season. The event successfully combined devotion, community, and festive cheer, marking a memorable start to the Christmas celebrations at the historic Lucknow college.
