Kapurthala Heritage Fair 2026 Begins with Grand Inauguration
The Kapurthala Heritage Fair 2026 kicked off on a vibrant note at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Kapurthala, Punjab. The event was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, with Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora also in attendance, marking a significant start to this cultural extravaganza.
Promoting Punjab's Rich Cultural Heritage
In his address to the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal emphasized that the fair, organized by the Punjab Government, is designed to showcase the state's rich cultural heritage. He highlighted that it serves as a guiding platform for promoting traditional values and fostering a deeper appreciation of Punjabi traditions.
Panchal further noted that Kapurthala, often referred to as the "Paris of Punjab," will be developed as a major tourist destination through dedicated efforts. This initiative aims to boost local tourism and highlight the region's historical and cultural significance.
Vibrant Cultural Performances Captivate Audience
The inaugural event featured a lively cultural programme that enthralled attendees. Noted singer Sikander Saleem delivered a captivating performance, adding to the festive atmosphere. Students and artists from various institutions, including Hindu Kanya College, Lyallpur Khalsa College, GNA University, and Tai Jagiro, presented a diverse array of cultural items.
These performances reflected the multifaceted hues of Punjabi heritage, from traditional dances to musical renditions, showcasing the region's artistic diversity.
Dignitaries and Large Attendance Mark the Occasion
The event saw the presence of several key dignitaries, underscoring its importance. Among those present were District Planning Board Chairperson Sarbjit Singh Lubana, Additional Deputy Commissioner Navneet Kaur Ball, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Phagwara) Shikha Bhagat, and Science and Technology Board member Kanwar Iqbal Singh.
