Kerala's 4th International Book Festival at Assembly from Jan 7-13, 2026
Kerala Assembly Book Fest 2026: Free Entry, 250+ Stalls

The Kerala Legislative Assembly is gearing up to host the fourth edition of its prestigious International Book Festival, transforming the state's political heart into a vibrant cultural hub. The week-long event is scheduled to take place on the assembly premises in Thiruvananthapuram from January 7 to 13, 2026.

A Literary Carnival with Free Access for All

In a significant move to promote reading and democratic engagement, entry to the festival will be completely free. Visitors will receive the rare opportunity to explore the legislative assembly hall and its museum, areas typically reserved for government business. The festival grounds will feature an impressive lineup of over 250 stalls representing more than 200 publishers from across India and beyond, offering a vast collection of titles in multiple languages.

Star-Studded Lineup of Authors and Engaging Programmes

The festival will witness the participation of a distinguished array of literary figures. Renowned writers and journalists set to attend include Taslima Nasrin, Rana Ayyub, Choolananda Samaranayake, Praful Shiledar, Zaira Shah Halim, and Banu Mushtaq, alongside a host of celebrated Malayalam authors. The event's agenda is packed with intellectual stimulation across six dedicated venues.

Highlights include numerous book launches, panel discussions, debates, author interviews, and lectures. Publishers will host their own launches and talks at three specific venues within the assembly complex. A major attraction for young minds will be the special students' corner, designed to foster a love for literature through interactive sessions with prominent personalities, puppet shows, magic acts, and dedicated children's programmes.

Unique Initiatives and Cultural Extravaganza

A standout feature of this edition is the "model assembly" programme. This innovative session, to be held in the old assembly hall of the Secretariat, aims to educate students about the procedural workings and democratic importance of the legislative assembly.

Beyond books, the festival promises a rich cultural experience. Attendees can look forward to mega shows, traditional Theyyam performances, and a food fair that will showcase the diverse culinary heritage of Kerala. This blend of literature, governance, and culture makes the festival a unique event on India's cultural calendar.

The Kerala Legislature International Book Festival 2026 stands as a testament to the state's commitment to literacy, public engagement, and cultural celebration, all within the iconic setting of its seat of power.
