A 10-day cultural festival, the Kerala Peruma-Maitree Mahotsavam, is set to take place at Thirunavaya from May 15 to 24. The event will be inaugurated by noted poet K Satchidanandan.
Alternative to Mahamagha Mahotsavam
The festival is being positioned as an alternative to the Mahamagha Mahotsavam held in January. Organizers stated that it is a bid to counter attempts to fracture unity and mutual goodwill. They claimed that the Mahamagha Mahotsavam organizers attempted to use that event for political gain and communal division.
In response, various democratically minded and secular organizations in Kerala have come together to uphold and defend the state's cultural diversity, renaissance values, and secular traditions, according to the organizers.
Rich Array of Events
The program will feature a diverse range of activities, including art exhibitions, painting workshops, cultural performances, visual displays, seminars, history classes, and public meetings. Prominent cultural leaders, poets, and artists are expected to participate.
The event is jointly organized by Malappuram Samskarika Koottayma, Wake Up Keralam, M N Vijayan Samskarika Kendram, Banner Samskarika Samiti, and other progressive public forums.
