Lucknow Bioscope Museum Hosts Inspiring Storytelling Event for Young Minds
The city museum, Lucknow Bioscope, organized a captivating storytelling session specifically designed for children at its Kaiser Bagh venue on Sunday evening. This special event, titled 'Of Courage and Feminism', was expertly hosted by renowned theatre practitioner and professional storyteller Apurva Shah.
Interactive Session Features Award-Winning Picture Books
The session witnessed enthusiastic and active participation from numerous children who gathered for this unique literary experience. Apurva Shah dramatically read out popular picture books including 'Freedom Braids' and 'The Girl Who Makes Million Mistakes', creating an engaging atmosphere that held the young audience's attention throughout.
Shah also presented several storybooks that have received prestigious recognition, including titles honored by the Jane Addams Children's Book Award and selections featured on the distinguished Amelia Bloomer List. These carefully chosen works provided meaningful content that resonated with both children and adults present.
Immersive Narration Technique Creates Memorable Experience
Blending sophisticated voice modulation, expressive movement, and dynamic narration, Shah created a truly immersive storytelling environment. Her performance consistently kept children attentive and involved, frequently drawing genuine laughter and thoughtful responses from the young participants.
The session powerfully emphasized that courage holds far greater value than perfection, actively encouraging children to embrace their unique voices and celebrate their individuality. "Stories represent the most powerful pathway to reach a child's inner consciousness," explained Shah during the event.
Children Share Perspectives and Personal Connections
The young attendees thoroughly enjoyed the entire session and enthusiastically shared their own perspectives on the stories presented. Nafisa, a Class 4 student, expressed her aspiration to be like Millie, the protagonist from 'The Girl Who Made Million Mistakes', admiring how the character embraces her errors and learns valuable lessons from them.
Shah strongly encouraged this sentiment, stating, "Every girl should cultivate inner strength and transform her mistakes into powerful motivation for growth."
Adult Participant Revisits Childhood Joy
Maria, a resident of Lalbagh, stood out as the sole adult attendee at the children-focused session. She shared that the experience provided her with a precious opportunity to revisit her childhood and relive the simple, pure joy of storytelling. "I have always maintained a deep love for reading stories, and this event felt like a wonderful chance to recapture that authentic joy," Maria expressed with evident appreciation.
The Lucknow Bioscope's initiative successfully created a space where literature, empowerment, and childhood wonder intersected, leaving both children and the solitary adult participant with meaningful memories and important messages about courage, feminism, and self-acceptance.
