Mangaluru's 40-Day Karavali Utsava 2025 Begins

The coastal city of Mangaluru has officially ushered in the festive season with the grand inauguration of the Karavali Utsava 2025. This extensive 40-day cultural and tourism extravaganza, a collaborative effort by the Dakshina Kannada district administration and the tourism department alongside various other agencies, promises a vibrant blend of art, music, sports, and food. The festival was formally launched by District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao at the Karavali Utsava ground on Saturday, marking the beginning of celebrations that will span multiple locations across the district.

A Diverse Calendar of Cultural and Entertainment Events

Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. outlined a packed schedule designed to offer something unique every day. Daily cultural programmes are scheduled at the Karavali Utsava ground from 6 pm to 9 pm between December 21 and January 2. The administration has consciously curated a non-monotonous lineup, inviting diverse art forms from across Karnataka and other states to perform. An exhibition at the same ground will run until January 20, with a possibility of extension based on public response.

The adventure segment of the utsava will feature Heli Rides, proposed to operate from either Sultan Battery or Panambur between December 23 and January 2, pending final agency confirmations. The festival's opening day, December 21, will see a Cake and Wine Fest at the Blue Flag Beach in Tannirbhavi. Ullal Beach will come alive with a Zumba event on December 27, followed by beach football, beach volleyball, tug of war, and a food festival on December 27 and 28.

Adding an international flavor, an International Kite Festival will be held at Tannirbhavi Beach on January 17 and 18. A dedicated dance festival is planned for the same beach on January 23. Cinema buffs can enjoy a film festival at Big Cinemas in Bharat Mall from January 19 to 21.

The festival also promotes wellness and community engagement. Someshwara Beach will host Udayaraga, beach yoga, a musical evening, and a band performance on January 24. Morning yoga and cultural programmes are slated for Tannirbhavi Beach on January 25. Kadri Park will organize a dog show on January 25 and a fruit and flower show on January 26.
