The vibrant city of Nava Raipur prepares to host the Raipur Sahitya Utsav 2026 from January 23 to 25. This three-day literary festival will unfold at the Purkhouti Muktangan venue, promising a rich tapestry of cultural and intellectual activities.

Officials Review Preparations for Grand Event

Collector Dr Gaurav Singh and Public Relations Commissioner Dr Ravi Mittal inspected the festival site on Friday. They directed officials to complete all arrangements within the set timeline. The team examined stalls, the main stage, session venues, food zones, drinking water facilities, parking areas, security measures, and visitor amenities.

Representatives from the Chhattisgarh Sahitya Akademi, Culture Department, district administration, municipal corporation, and organising committee attended the inspection. Their collective efforts ensure a smooth and engaging experience for all attendees.

Theme and Vision of the Festival

The festival embraces the central theme 'Aadi se Anaadi Tak', which highlights the unbroken continuity of Indian literary traditions. Dr Singh emphasized the event's goal to strengthen Chhattisgarh's role in national literary conversations. He stated that the festival aims to connect younger audiences with literature, ideas, and cultural discussions.

Participants will include children, youth, teachers, writers, and readers from across the country. The programme seeks to foster sustained interaction between established authors, emerging voices, and the reading public.

Diverse Programme and Activities

Attendees can look forward to a packed schedule over the three days. The venue will host literary sessions, book releases, panel discussions, cultural programmes, and art exhibitions. Writers, poets, journalists, thinkers, and young authors from various regions will share their insights.

Discussions will tackle contemporary issues, with interactive sessions allowing direct audience engagement. A special focus lies on youth and child participation. Books featuring poems and stories by school students from Raipur district will see release during the event.

Open-mic sessions will provide platforms for children and young participants to express themselves. Organisers report receiving over 4,000 registrations so far, indicating strong public interest.

Book Fair and Cultural Performances

A book fair with approximately 40 stalls will showcase publications from diverse publishers. Writer-reader interaction sessions will enable personal connections between authors and their audience.

Cultural highlights include a staging of the play 'Chanakya', folk performances, a Kavi Sammelan, and dialogue sessions with journalists, thinkers, and social workers. These elements aim to blend literary appreciation with vibrant cultural expressions.
