Ranchi is buzzing with excitement as it undergoes a spectacular transformation in preparation for the grand celebrations marking 25 years of Jharkhand's statehood. The city, particularly the Morabadi area which will host the main event, is receiving a magnificent facelift, with most decorative works receiving their final touches by Friday evening.
A Canvas of Culture and Social Messages
The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has engaged various artists who are working tirelessly to adorn the city's walls with vibrant paintings. These artworks beautifully capture the essence of Jharkhand – its people, rich tribal heritage, diverse flora and fauna, rivers, lakes, and water bodies. Beyond showcasing cultural pride, these murals also convey important social messages aimed at raising public awareness.
Several prominent locations have already received this artistic treatment, including Birsa Munda Samadhi Sthal, Children's Park, the residence wall of Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, Guru jee residence, Chotanagpur division commissioner office, and Dr Zakir Hussain Park, according to an RMC spokesperson.
Cultural Extravaganza Across the City
The celebrations extend far beyond visual art. The city has come alive with street dance festivals at 11 different locations, showcasing the incredible diversity of tribal and regional traditions. Adding to the festive atmosphere, 10 tableaux will parade through Ranchi on November 16, starting from JAP ground in Doranda and proceeding to Birsa Munda memorial park in Jail More, passing through various city landmarks.
Cycling Through Heritage and History
The festivities gained momentum on Thursday morning when Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar flagged off the 'Know Your Tourist Place' bicycle rally from Morabadi ground. This vibrant event, organized by the tourism department, marks the beginning of the Statehood Day celebrations. The rally is traversing scenic and historic routes and will conclude its journey on Saturday at Ulihatu in Khunti district, the birthplace of tribal hero Birsa Munda.
As Ranchi dons its celebratory attire, the city promises a memorable tribute to Jharkhand's journey over the past quarter-century, blending traditional art with contemporary expressions of cultural pride.
