Sullia Student Achieves World Record with 24-Hour Kuchipudi Dance Marathon

In a remarkable feat of endurance and artistic dedication, a young student from Sullia has made headlines by completing a continuous 24-hour Kuchipudi dance performance, aiming to secure a place in the prestigious Golden Book of World Records. Abhishek M Kanemaradka Mandekolu, a second-year BSc student at KVG Nehru Memorial College in Sullia, successfully undertook this challenging endeavor on April 11 and 12, earning a provisional certificate from the record-keeping organization for the longest performance of Kuchipudi dance.

Structured Performance and Training Background

Abhishek's marathon dance was meticulously planned, adhering to strict guidelines that allowed for a 15-minute break after every three hours of continuous performance. This structure ensured his safety and stamina throughout the grueling 24-hour period. His journey to this achievement is rooted in extensive training, having dedicated 16 years to classical dance. He has been honing his skills in Kuchipudi under the expert guidance of instructors Suramya and Vaishnavi from Kanhangad, Kerala, which provided a solid foundation for this record attempt.

Inspiration and Future Aspirations

The inspiration for Abhishek's record-breaking effort came from Remona Evette Pereira, who previously made history with a 170-hour Bharatanatyam dance and also entered the Golden Book of World Records in Mangaluru. Drawing motivation from this precedent, Abhishek pushed his limits to achieve his own milestone. Beyond this accomplishment, he is actively preparing for his Vidhwath-grade exams in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music, showcasing his versatility in classical arts. Looking ahead, Abhishek aspires to pursue a PhD in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, aiming to contribute academically to these traditional dance forms.
