Uttar Pradesh Government Launches Three-Day Kalinjar Mahotsava in Banda
The Uttar Pradesh government is set to organize a three-day Kalinjar Mahotsava in Banda, starting this Sunday, to showcase the rich heritage and cultural legacy of the Bundelkhand region. The festival will be held at the Katra Kalinjar mela ground under the evocative theme ‘Echoes of History, Soul of Culture’. Officials have emphasized that this event aims to bring the region's warrior traditions, folk arts, and historical consciousness into the mainstream tourism narrative of the state.
Minister Highlights Festival's Broader Impact
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh described the mahotsava as more than just a cultural celebration. He stated, "Through Kalinjar Mahotsava, we are presenting Bundelkhand's heritage before the nation and the world. The festival connects visitors with our folk traditions, music, sports, and local craftsmanship while strengthening tourism and local pride." This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote regional identity and boost economic opportunities through cultural tourism.
Diverse Cultural Performances and Activities
The event will feature a vibrant array of Bundeli folk dances, Alha ballads steeped in veer ras, devotional music, and traditional songs. Evening performances under the banner ‘Aaj Ki Shaam Kalinjar Ke Naam’ will be held daily, with renowned artists including Tripti Shakya, Sadho The Band, Radha Srivastava, Mamta Sharma, and Raja Rencho set to perform. These sessions are designed to immerse attendees in the artistic soul of Bundelkhand.
Sports and Talent Showcases
A parallel sports festival will run alongside the cultural events, offering competitive and recreational activities. Additionally, ‘Banda Got Talent’ will provide a platform for young performers from schools and colleges to showcase their skills. A divisional Saras mela will highlight products crafted by women self-help groups, promoting local entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
