Kacharakanahalli Community Celebrates International Women's Day with Awards and Welfare Initiatives
A vibrant community welfare programme was organized at Kacharakanahalli in Ward No. 30 to commemorate International Women's Day, featuring a series of initiatives that recognized local women and supported residents. The event, hosted by dedicated social activist Shobha JP Reddy, who has been engaged in social work in the area for over 15 years, brought together hundreds of participants for a day of celebration and service.
Honoring Women from Diverse Backgrounds
As a central part of the celebrations, 65 women from various walks of life were honored for their significant contributions to the community. The awardees included BBMP sanitation workers, government employees, teachers, entrepreneurs, social workers, and elderly residents who have played pivotal roles in shaping the locality through years of dedicated service. Notably, nearly 500 nominations were received for this recognition, from which the final list of awardees was carefully selected based on their impact and commitment.
Celebrity Guests and Inspirational Speeches
The honors were presented by chief guests Kannada actors Shravya Rao and Chaithra Gopal, along with senior advocate Rangaramu. During the ceremony, the guests applauded the women for their resilience and unwavering commitment to their work, encouraging them to continue contributing to society. Their speeches highlighted the importance of community support and the empowerment of women in driving positive change.
Comprehensive Welfare Initiatives
Alongside the felicitation ceremony, several welfare initiatives were carried out to benefit the local community. Approximately 500 sarees were distributed to women from the neighbourhood, providing essential support and recognition. Additionally, free non-vegetarian meals were served to more than 500 residents, transforming the event into a lively community gathering that fostered unity and camaraderie.
Meritorious students from the area were also recognized and honored for their academic achievements, promoting education and youth development. Furthermore, a free medical camp organized by RK Hospital offered basic health check-ups for residents. Doctors conducted blood pressure and oxygen level tests and distributed medicines, benefiting many elderly and underprivileged members of the community.

The programme was organized as a social initiative in remembrance of family elders K. L. Kamala, Lakshmaiah Reddy, Gowramma, Babu Reddy, and Saraswathamma. Organizers emphasized that their values continue to inspire service and community welfare in the area, driving ongoing efforts to support and uplift residents. This event not only celebrated women's achievements but also reinforced the importance of collective action and social responsibility in building a stronger community.
