Guwahati Eateries Introduce Budget-Friendly Ramzan Platters for Holy Month

Eateries across Guwahati have rolled out time-limited Ramzan platters at affordable prices, attracting food enthusiasts and fasting residents to immerse in the tradition during the holy month. With Ramzan in full swing, restaurants and roadside food joints spanning from Fancy Bazar and Panbazar to Panjabari and Hatigaon have unveiled exclusive menus showcasing popular Ramzan delicacies.

Affordable Iftar Options with Extended Hours

The special platters, priced between Rs 200 and Rs 300, are designed to provide substantial meals without imposing financial strain on customers. Several outlets have extended their operating hours to accommodate those observing the fast, offering combo meals tailored for individuals breaking their fast on the go. Sarfaraz Haque, a restaurant owner in the Ambari area, emphasized the initiative's goal: "The idea is to ensure that no one misses out on a hearty iftar. We have kept our margins low and focused on serving quality food."

Haque's restaurant features a biryani combo platter priced at Rs 250, which includes:

  • An additional piece of chicken
  • Egg and potato
  • Raita and salad
  • Fruits and dry fruits
  • Gulab jamun
  • A cold drink
  • A pack of juice
  • Mineral water

Community Initiatives and Traditional Flavors

In Ulubari, another restaurant has launched a special combo for Rs 230, offering items such as halwa, biryani, chana, and pakoda. Abdul Mosaddik, the restaurant manager, highlighted their community-focused approach: "We have been providing complimentary platters to those breaking their first fast (pehla roza), reflecting Ramzan's values of kindness and unity."

Food stalls have also emerged near mosques to facilitate easy access to meals after evening prayers. In Machkhowa, Madina Sweet House, a Lucknow-based eatery, sets up a pop-up stall during Ramzan, serving items like Mughlai paratha, chicken biryani, halwa, and kheer. Vendors noted that customers flock to these stalls for authentic traditional flavors and meticulously prepared dishes, enhancing the communal spirit of the season.
