336 Buses from Varanasi for Magh Mela Travel

Following the successful execution of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has shifted its focus to the upcoming Magh Mela. The administration is working round the clock to upgrade transport, security, and basic amenities, ensuring devotees can perform their 'snan' (holy dip) at the Sangam confluence without any hassle.

Enhanced Transport for Pilgrims from Purvanchal

The state government is making special arrangements to facilitate devotees traveling from the Purvanchal region, particularly Varanasi, to Prayagraj. To prevent any travel inconvenience, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will deploy 336 additional buses in a phased manner from its Varanasi region, which covers eight districts.

Parshuram Pandey, the Regional Manager of UPSRTC, Varanasi, stated that the bus schedules have been planned according to anticipated passenger demand. Furthermore, 50 buses will be kept on standby as a reserve fleet to manage any unexpected rush. Adding to the comfort, 3 Janrath AC buses will also operate from the Cantt and Kashi depots.

Three-Phase Bus Operation Schedule

The transportation plan has been meticulously divided into three key phases to cover the entire duration of the Magh Mela.

  • First Phase (January 1 to January 13): A total of 215 buses will be in operation.
  • Second Phase (January 14 to January 24): This period will see the highest number of buses, with 330 vehicles running services.
  • Third Phase (January 31 to February 16): Operations will scale back to 215 buses for the concluding period.

A Continuation of Festival Travel Initiatives

This initiative is part of the Yogi government's consistent policy of ensuring simple and smooth travel for passengers during all major festivals and religious gatherings in Uttar Pradesh. The focus on robust logistical support aims to replicate the organizational success of the Maha Kumbh for the millions expected at the Magh Mela.

By strengthening the transport network from key regions like Varanasi, the government is not only easing the pilgrimage journey but also boosting religious tourism and ensuring the safety and comfort of every devotee making their way to the sacred Sangam in Prayagraj.
