Bihar Tourism to Revamp Visitor Counting & Boost Infrastructure
Bihar to Study Tourist Count System, Plans New Hotel

In a significant move to overhaul its tourism sector, the Bihar government has announced a series of strategic decisions aimed at improving data accuracy and visitor experience. The state tourism department, led by Secretary Nilesh Ramchandra Devre, held a key review meeting on Monday to chart a new course for growth.

Developing a Scientific Tourist Counting System

The department has decided to address a long-standing gap by establishing a reliable method to count tourists. It will conduct a detailed study of the calculation processes used by other Indian states to tally both domestic and foreign visitors. Based on this research, officials will prepare a comprehensive presentation to develop a scientific and trustworthy system for Bihar, ensuring data-driven policy making.

Infrastructure Push and Adventure Tourism Focus

To promote adventure tourism, the department is exploring the feasibility of constructing a hotel near the Karamchat Dam in the Kaimur district. This initiative aims to tap into the region's natural beauty and potential for eco and adventure travel. Furthermore, to cater to VIP guests, the managing director of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited (BSTDC) has been directed to explore options for providing four-wheeler vehicles for dignitaries and distinguished visitors.

Enhancing Service and Digital Footprint

A major focus will be on improving the quality of service at all tourist sites. The department has mandated special training for all its employees and service providers. This training will be conducted in collaboration with a reputed institution to ensure courteous behaviour and a better overall experience for tourists.

On the promotional front, the department plans to strengthen its digital presence across social media channels, websites, and mobile applications. Secretary Devre has instituted a system of regular review, stating he will hold meetings every Monday to monitor the progress of all departmental schemes. These reviews will include a comparative analysis of weekly progress supported by relevant photographs.

These concerted efforts signal Bihar's serious intent to transform its tourism landscape, making it more data-informed, visitor-friendly, and prominently visible on the national tourism map.
